How to Get Engaged in 5 Easy Steps with Brad Krebs

So, you just met the love of your life. Now what? Now, you take it from successful Senior Associate, Brad Krebs and put a ring on it.

Step 1: Meet Your Person

Katelyn and I met our junior year of college (go Bulldogs) right before I was about to study abroad and intern for the next eight months. We kept in touch and the rest is history.

Step 2: Meet the Parents

Any journey to engagement has to include getting in good with the ‘rents. After enough successful family dinners, you’ll find yourself on a text thread with your future mother-in-law before eventually getting the ultimate stamp of approval — making the family portrait above the fireplace.

Step 3: Throw Her Off (A Few Times)

One way to make her think you’re not getting engaged the next weekend? Help her best friend’s boyfriend propose the week before. Works hook, line and sinker. We went on a backpacking trip where our friend Cassie was surprised by her now-fiance who had flown in to surprise her with a ring along the trail.

Step 4: Do the Damn Thing

We planned a trip to a place that we’ve been talking about going to since we’ve moved to Colorado — Maroon Bells. We got there early before the crowds. As Katelyn had her back to me taking pics, I flashed the gold and asked to put a ring on it.

Step 5: Flash the Rock (Rinse and Repeat)

The keys to a successful proposal don’t end at bended knee. Once said proposal is accepted, it’s necessary to constantly switch to Portrait Mode and ask the future wifey to flash the diamond.
