Top 5 Coffices in Denver - A highly biased list by an itinerant designer

Ever wondered where the best coffee shops are in Denver to get s$*t done? Well, wonder no more — our Daniela Silva Riera explored the city to find the best of the best Coffices in Denver.

Discover Daniela’s destinations:

1) Vibe Coffee and Wine | Downtown

  • Perks: Basically a free co-working space! Serves hard drinks in the afternoon. The friendliest baristas who will inevitably pump your self-esteem along with your caffeine. A pool table!

  • Space: Beautifully designed space in the lobby of the Link Building. Open floor plan with plenty of options for seating (booths, bar, library tables, window ledges and couches)

  • Food: BOMB Burrito called The Chupacabra and delicious pastries.

  • Screen Break: Laugh at the massive line of people outside of Sam’s No. 3 across the street and be grateful you’re not in it… Or pretend you’re a tourist and take a stroll on the 16th Street Mall.

2) Roostercat Coffee House | Capitol Hill

  • Perks: Women-owned! Tasty food served until 8 p.m. Delicious spicy dirty chai. Lots of creative types are actually getting work done here, so you’ll be inspired to not procrastinate!

  • Space: Tucked in a garden level, plenty of seating, exposed bricks, silly neon signs, background music is mostly Indie from 2010ish. My favorite spot is in the back corner, a table with booth seating next to a beaded curtain, perfect for a “what the hell is that” zoom background. Patio with plenty of shade. For the cat people in the room: LOTS OF CAT ART! (Some rooster art too, obviously)

  • Food: Waffle breakfast sandwiches, burritos, pastries, paninis… and it smells so good here!

  • Screen Break: Hop over to the Denver Art Museum, Clyfford Still Museum…Get cultured! Or grab lunch (a pastrami sandwich...hint hint!) at Leven Deli.

3) Improper City | Rino

  • Perks: It’s also a beer garden! Sometimes they have a live DJ! Opens late if you’re more productive post 5 p.m.

  • Space: Massive converted warehouse full of interesting murals and art. Get inspired by all the folks getting stuff done around you! Lots of options for seating: swings, collaborative tables, individual tables, couches. For a little more privacy, head to the top level where there are usually fewer people. There’s even a booth for phone calls. Their large patio is fantastic for dog watching.

  • Food: Leroy's Bagels, burritos and a variety of food trucks on the patio. Their prickly pear kombucha on tap is super refreshing, for those days your brain is Asana-Fried.

  • Screen Break: It’s literally in the same building as Movement Climbing and Fitness, get a bouldering/yoga/fitness session in with a day pass.
Or if you need outdoor time, walk around the alleyways for all the Crush Walls murals.

4) Coffee at The Point | 5 Points

  • Perks: Let me get this out of the way early: GELATO. Neighborhoody Vibes. What makes this space so vibrant is the variety of people getting together, hosting meetings, studying, reading, working, planning events. Still quiet enough to have zoom meetings. Productivity is the buzz here!

  • Space: Lots of outlets, high tops, tables, couches and small patio

  • Food: Great for staying all day (Pastries, breakfast sandwiches, bowls, salads, beers and GELATO offerings)

  • Screen Break: Grab a...you guessed it: GELATO and walk around Welton St. If you’re craving good conversation, stop by the store Ernie’s Generation and say hi to Suzzane. She’ll style you and you’ll want to be best friends forever.

5) Metropolis Coffee | Baker

  • Perks: Low on inspiration? You’re on South Broadway close to plenty of food, shopping and other
great distractions for when lunchtime comes!

  • Space: Cozy with tons of natural light and plants. Music is always on point (I mean, Harry Nilsson pick-me-up at 2 p.m.? YEAH!) The upstairs feels like a lofted living room, with tons of books, plants, and a high-top ledge perfect for standing while working. There’s communal bar seating by the windows, too— if people-watching on Broadway is your thing (It's a good place for it!!)

  • Food: Various fancy pastries, biscottis and they have Herkimer Coffee which is quite tasty.

  • Screen Break: Perouse ’zines, books, records across the street at Mutiny, eat a delicious Falafel Sandwich next door at Sputnik, treat yourself to a funky outfit at Scout Dry Goods.

Honorable Mention: ESP HiFi | Santa Fe Arts District

  • Perks: Fantastic music with high-quality sound, best for a day of getting stuff done with no meetings. You’ll automatically feel 10x cooler when you walk in. Open late for drinks too! 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Space: Low light, kind of romantic environment. All wood feels like a recording studio/Brooklyn hipster's upstate cabin. Limited seating but it’s never too crowded. Maybe it’s still a hidden gem. Recommend going early so you grab a good spot.

  • Food: No food, yet … They just opened! But the coffee is magnificent.

  • Screen Break: Visit the galleries in the Santa Fe Arts District, shop for plants at Green Lady Gardens or thrift at Strawberry Mountain. Lunch at El Noa Noa… Yum!!
