Meet a CSGer: Emily

Animal Overload

It’s really time that I invest in a better vacuum cleaner. As most of you have seen in #pet-content, I have three animals who I treat like human children: Luna, my cat that I adopted in college, Flicker, my fiance’s cat who he adopted in college (crazy kids), and Blossom, our husky / shepherd / wolf girl combo. Since there was at least, like, 2 square feet of empty space in the bed at night, I’ve also started fostering dogs through a local rescue that transports euthanasia list dogs from Texas and Oklahoma all the way to Colorado. And yes, it is hard not to keep them all.

My first and craziest foster puppy, Frankie. He was around 12 weeks old here…and already massive.

Crushing the GoodReads Game

Sometime last year I completely exhausted the list of remotely interesting-looking Netflix options and decided to get back into reading. Now I spend an embarrassing amount of hours in what I refer to as my “enclosure time” where no one is to speak to me, text me, ask me to get up, etc. If you need any psych-thriller, or fiction, or fantasy, or historical fiction recommendations, hit my line.

I don’t have a reading-related photo so enjoy Blossom stealing the show during our engagement photos.

Using the Smoke Alarm as the Timer

For whatever reason, I’ve decided that 26 is probably the age where it starts getting embarrassing not knowing how to cook. So far, thanks to Pinterest and my grandma, I’ve perfected a homemade chicken noodle soup, beef stir fry type-thing, and spicy aioli brussel sprouts. Charlie, my in-house taste tester, is such a good sport but never tells me when things don’t turn out well (I can usually tell because his plate doesn’t end up clean). I did just get an air fryer so please, please send recipes!

Similarly, I don’t photograph my cooking creations, so here’s one of the taste-tester in question when he officially became a firefighter earlier this year.

Living in Mis(souri)ery

The jokes are almost too easy, but Missouri gets a lot of undeserved hate! I was born in Kansas City (in Missouri, not Kansas) and even though I made it to Colorado when I was a kid, we still spend a lot of time in the same state as Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. If you haven’t been to Lake of the Ozarks (and aren’t afraid of murky lake water), I’d 100% recommend it. You’ll know I’ve made it in life when I have a cutesy little farmhouse that looks like it belongs in the sprawling countryside of Missouri, but actually exists in Colorado.

Here’s me blissfully unaware that my cousin (driving) planned to absolutely launch me from the back of the wave runner as soon as we were far enough away from the dock.
