Meet a CSGer: Kayla

Strategy meets sass. Our Director, Kayla is always hungry — and not just for food. Read on to learn about the #LifeHacks she leans on to make her life better and her official hierarchy of donut flavors.

Keeping it sassy since…forever.

Blessed with the gift of gab — my parents say once I started talking, I basically never stopped — a curious spirit, and a get s*** done demeanor, it’s really no surprise that I ended up working at an agency. I’ve always brought my own style to just about everything I do, and that usually includes a good amount of sass. And humor. And love.

Always hungry.

Some eat to live, I live to eat. And I’m truly always hungry. I keep a drawer full of snacks in my office, and I never leave the house without a few stashed in my bag. I love to cook. I’m always on the hunt for an amazing restaurant. And when I go on vacation, the highlights are usually about the food.

I once ate the bomboloni at RPM two nights in a row, came home and spent three days and a good chunk of cash on a fryer trying to figure out how to perfectly recreate them. (I nailed it, btw.)

Fun fact: This might be the only time I’ve ever eaten VooDoo, despite my love for donuts. I’m a purist and prefer good ol’ maple glazed, chocolate glazed, chocolate cake, chocolate donut holes, and blueberry donut. <<This is my exact order every time I get them.

#LifeHacks

A former boss once described me as a duck. Calm and collected on the surface, always working hard under it. And it’s probably true. My wheels are pretty much always turning whether it’s about work or how I can be better in another aspect of my life. Which has led me, in recent years, to figuring out different ways to hack my life. Don’t worry, no crazy diets (see food references above) or cults. I’m talking about productivity and creativity, work life balance, being more zen, etc. Quarantine is giving me a lot of time to read, listen and test out new stuff. Am I taking the happiness course from Yale right now? You betcha. And dogs make me happy (it’s science) so please enjoy this photo of Brinkley.

The Griswolds

There are plenty of great things I could say about my family — they are awesome. But something you might love to learn is that Christmas is a pretty big deal for the Weimers. My parents grew up in houses obsessed with the holidays and have really taken it to the max since my sister and I have been around. Bdub (my dad) is basically Clark Griswold — the neighbors have called him “Gris” for years because of his commitment to exterior illumination around the holidays. My mom isn’t any better: We have no less than six Christmas trees every year. Is it excessive? Yes. Do I love it? So much.

P.S. Please look at Brinkley’s derpy face in this photo.

A heart for kids. And dogs.

Like most CSGers, I love giving back. In Arizona, I volunteered for Power Paws, an organization that trains service dogs, and Ronald McDonald House. Since moving back to Denver, I’m volunteering for Reading Partners every week. My soft spot is kiddos. And dogs, obviously.
