The Great Tundra Listicle of 2023
You’re looking longingly outside your bedroom window. It’s snowing again, for it feels like the 100th day in a row. You haven’t seen the sun in days, maybe even weeks. You’ve already binge-watched all the TV your brain can possibly ingest. Your feet are constantly cold even though you’ve layered three pairs of your warmest socks. Your energy bill is through the roof because of the five and a half space heaters you have on. The only fleeting joy you’ve felt in weeks is seeing a small dog wearing an oversized sweater and boots. At least they look happy. And warm.
One great way to spend the long winter hours (other than sulking) is by making lists and reading them. Lucky for you, we have not one, not two, but THREE lists on offer for you this month that encapsulate the joys of winter. By the time you're done reading them, it will be two days closer to spring! (We're assuming you read very slowly.)
How CSGers are Dealing with the Freeze
If you’re feeling discouraged about the weather, just know your fellow CSGers are feeling the same exact way. Here’s how some of us are dealing with the weather this season.
Jason: Eating 3,000 calories per hour
Tammy: I got the F outta town. This weather is NOT OK!
Liz: Spent the weekend skiing on 9+ inches of fresh powder
Molly: Wood burning fireplaces and space heaters
Shannon: ALL THE SOUP
Cody: Running away to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Haley: Constantly wearing matching flannel pajama sets
Annetta: Convincing my dog to lie on my feet. Forever.
Things about Winter that Bring Me Joy
Luckily, even though February is the coldest month of the year, it’s also the shortest. Summer will be here soon enough and then we can all complain about how it’s way too hot outside! Until then, here are a few things bringing me joy this season.
The laughter of small children as I slip and fall on the ice, which hurts more than my body.
Being able to blame my bad driving on the lack of upkeep on the Denver side streets.
Pouring hot water on my windshield to defrost it because a highschooler on TikTok told me to and then realizing TikTok is not to be trusted because now my entire windshield is solid ice.
Things Shorter than this Winter
While you may feel like this is, in fact, the longest winter ever, just know, these few things are much shorter than winter. If you can live through any of them, you might just be able to bide your time until May.
The Game of Thrones winter
Waiting in line at the DMV
The shelf life of beef jerky
Literally any Dave Matthews Band song
The ban on Will Smith from the Oscars
Monday through Friday
Taylor Swift’s speech at the 2009 MTV Awards
At the end of the day, this winter works hard. But CSGers work even harder.
