Meet a CSGer: Courtney

Recovering Midwesterner

I moved to Colorado in 2018 without knowing a soul and met most of my friends through work or kickball. Shoutout to you, VOLO. I now live with my boyfriend, James, and my two sweet angel baby monsters, Silvio (found on the side of the road) and Soup (adopted and annoying). Here’s a very real photo of the four of us!

Washed Up Sportswriter

I had my dream job at 20 years old when I was the football and wrestling editor for The Daily Iowan, the University of Iowa’s student newspaper. I visited almost every Big Ten campus to cover games and meets, and even got to cover the 2016 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials. I also won two pretty big sports writing awards during my tenure, nbd.

If You Want Me to Talk for Hours

Speaking of sports, I breathe baseball and have been cursed (but also very #blessed) with being a Milwaukee Brewers fan. I was the public affairs intern with the Tampa Bay Rays during the World Series 2018 season, and my goal over the next several years is to visit all 30 MLB ballparks. I’m at 14.

Stereotypical Transplant

I learned how to snowboard in 2021 because I got sick of not having any friends during the winter. Although I’ve suffered some massive bruises, a sprained wrist and a broken shoulder, I’ve gotten pretty good (like double black good) and have visited some sick places including Jackson Hole, Taos, Brighton and Mammoth.

Quick Fire Fun Facts:

I can’t tell my left from my right.

I’ve never seen a Star Wars or a Marvel and never will.

I think I was lead-poisoned by my first house in Denver.

I didn’t learn math in sixth grade because my teacher called it a “hiatus”.

My parents own a restaurant and I started waitressing at 11 years old.
